The Dal Nogare Award - A Delaware Connection

March 06, 2008 at 08:45 AM

The Stephen Dal Nogare award is one of the oldest and most prestigious awards given in chromatography. Since 1972, it has been presented by the Chromatography Forum of the Delaware Valley - usually at PITTCON.

The award was established in memory of Dr. Stephen Dal Nogare – a DuPont Company chemist who made several contributions to chromatographic science.

We at Analtech received a special visit from Andrew Dal Nogare – Stephen Dal Nogare’s son, just before we left for Pittcon. Andrew was given a tour of Analtech’s manufacturing plant and spent time with our Technical Director, Ned Dugan, our Physical Plant Manager, James Brannon, and our General Manager,  Steven Miles.

Andrew shared with us some great stories and photos from his father’s collections, we will be sharing those great pieces of chromatographic science history in upcoming issues of the Thin Layer Chronicles – our monthly electronic newsletter.

This year’s Dal Nogare award  goes to John G. Dorsey, the Katherine Blood Hoffman Professor of Chemistry at Florida State University. Dorsey serves as Editor for the Journal of Chromatography.

We thank Andrew Dal Nogare for his visit and we congratulate John Dorsey for his achievements in chromatography.
